Extended cabs are available in the base, Comfort, Sport Premium and bars, and all come with a 6-foot bed. Crew cabs are available in Sport and RMZ-4 rails. Sport is either on foot or 5-6-foot bed, while the RMZ-4 is only a short bed. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Comfort and Premium trim the extended cab, extended cab while the Sport and the cab can be either rear or four wheels. Finally, the RMZ-4 cab with short bed is available only all-wheel drive.
The basis of the equator comes with a 15-inch steel wheels, seats, center console and rear under-seat storage. Comfort adds air conditioning and four speaker audio system with CD player. Premium adds 16-inch alloy wheels, sliding rear window, cruise control, tilt steering wheel, keyless entry, full power accessories and upgraded cloth upholstery. Opting for the Sport gets you 17-inch alloy wheels, more powerful V6 engine, hill hold and Descent Control, and larger brakes. Crew Cab Sport adds a spray in liner and mounting brackets for moving the cargo bed, but Hill Descent Control holds and there are short bed model.
RMZ-4 adds Chrome exterior, locking rear differential, Bilstein shock absorbers, skid plates, Hill Descent Control and Hold, 16-inch alloy wheels, off-road-oriented tires, fog lights, unique upholstery, metallic accents and a driver seat with height and lumbar adjustment . Bed Extender for RMZ-4 cab.
2012 Suzuki Equator offers a choice of two engines: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 152 hp and 171 pounds-feet of torque and 4.0 V6, which is 261 hp and 281 lb-ft. V6 is only available for crew cab and 4WD variants, while four-cylinder is only available in a lower gear extended cab models. Standard Equipment Comfort’s four-cylinder engine matched to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the five-speed automatic is standard on all other models.
Properly equipped, can tow up to 6,300 pounds to the equator. Fuel consumption estimates range from 17 mpg city/22 mpg highway and 19 mpg with the rear-wheel drive extended cab with inline-4 engine and automatic transmission 15/19/16 mpg in the crew cab 4WD with V6.
